The African ICT Week (AICTW) was launched for the first time during the second Phase of the WSIS summit in Tunisia, on 14 th to 20 th November 2005. November 14 th was observed as a paperless day within the African Union.

The week meant to provide a constant reflection of the gains Africa has made in harnessing ICTs to realize a knowledge-based economy. Today, Knowledge and Information hold massive potential for propelling the canlı tv African continent development process,

building all inclusive knowledge economy and ultimately achieving the millennium goals by 2015.

However, the inclusive access of the populations, in particular those of the rural areas, to the essential services such as Tele-medicine, Tele-education, the cyber governance, with accessible price, is the a great challenge towards these goals and should be the sevgili ultimate objective of the members States and the stakeholders involved in the development of the use of ICT in Africa.

Indeed we need to multiply our efforts in integrating the use of ICTs in all our activities, our methods, working tools, our plans and programs of development. How to celebrate the ICT Week
W ork together! It is a great opportunity to rally support and get key stakeholders involved public sector, non 9to5nolonger -governmental organizations, academic institutions, private sector, and youth to focus and commit more time and resources to solve the arkadaş problems of poverty, deprivation and inequality using the ICT as a development tool.

O rganize! Conduct forums, public discussions and information campaigns in support of all stakeholders focusing on ICT issues and how they can be addressed.

C elebrate! Plan and organize performances oyun in all places to showcase - and celebrate the fact that ICT can contribute to the socio-economic development. Convene exchanges and dialogues focusing on the rich and varied skills, interests and aspirations of people in ICT.

toplist T ake action! A major focus of the African ICT week is practical action to further encourage the empowerment and participation of people in the processes, ways and means that affect their lives.

M edia! The media particularly have especial and important role to play in support of the observance of the week activities to promote public awareness of ICT issues.
